Die 1935 in Florenz geborene Simone Forti ist Künstlerin, Choreografin, Tänzerin und Schriftstellerin. Der Katalog dieser wichtigen Zeitgenossin von Cage, Cunningham oder Rainer begleitet eine von Sabine Breitwieser kuratierte Retrospektive im Museum der Moderne Salzburg.
Die zweibändige Publikation ist die erste große Werkmonografie der in Los Angeles lebenden Performancekünstlerin. Neben einem Interview von Sabine Breitwieser mit Simone Forti, beinhaltet sie Aufsätze von Julia Bryan-Wilson, Fred Dewey, Meredith Morse, ein Gespräch zwischen Liz Kotz und Tashi Wada sowie Texte der Künstler_innen Robert Morris, Steve Paxton und Yvonne Rainer.
Simone Forti, born in Florence in 1935, is an artist, choreographer, dancer and writer. The catalogue of this important contemporary of Cage, Cunningham or Rainer accompanies a retrospective at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg curated by Sabine Breitwieser.
The two-volume publication is the first major monograph of the works of this Los Angeles-based performance artist. Along with an interview held by Sabine Breitwieser with Simone Forti, it also features essays by Julia Bryan-Wilson, Fred Dewey, Meredith Morse, a conversation between Liz Kotz and Tashi Wada, and texts by the artists Robert Morris, Steve Paxton and Yvonne Rainer.
